Zakynthos General Hospital "Saint Dionysios"

The General Hospital of Zakynthos was formerly located at the southwest of Zakynthos town at the slope of “Exintaveloni” hill, overlooking the entire city, the harbor and the endless Ionian Sea down to the Peloponnese. Construction began in 1959 and was completed in its initial form in 1966, when it was delivered for operation. Since then various additions were made to cover the increased healthcare needs of both locals and tourists. In 2007 it was renamed from “Zakynthos General Prefectural Hospital” to “Zakynthos General Hospital” ‘Agios Dionysios’ “.

Operation stopped in May 2012 by transferring equipment, patients and services to the New Hospital building. The new Zante General Hospital ‘Agios Dionysios’ is located on the back side of Zakynthos town and specifically in the area of Gaitani. Its construction started in 2004 and was completed in 2012. Operation began on May 18, 2012, when transfer from the old hospital was completed.

It is a modern hospital, occupying 12,500 sq.m. of buildings and comprises of all the necessary, high-end equipment required to offer premium health services both for the people of the island and for the hundreds of thousands annual visitors.

It really is a gem for Zakynthos!
